BOE to begin replacement procedure for Taoyuan wind farm

BOE to begin replacement procedure for Taoyuan wind farm in coming weeks after wpd's 350MW Guanyin offshore wind project was denied establishment permit last year.   The developers who are on the replacement priority list are Formosa III offshore wind, site 28 led by Taiwanese LeaLea Group (which has signed an agreement with wpd last April to joinly develop the wind farm) and 448MW  Chu Feng offshore wind project currently managed by Taiwan's Asia Cement Corp and RWE.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has denied the so-called ”Establishment Permit” for wpd’s 350 MW Guanyin offshore wind project citing aviation security concerns.

The permit denial was based on claims made by the Taiwanese Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) that the wind farm could have a negative impact on flights to and from the Taoyuan International Airport.
